I know there's several volunteer and career firefighters among the MYST.com members so I thought I'd pass this along - I received it from our Chief yesterday. The U.S. Fire Administration and Homeland Security are looking for both vol and career FF's to aid citizens and communities affected by Katrina.
They are putting together 1000 two-person teams to serve as FEMA's community relations representatives in response to Hurricane Katrina. Each department may offer more than one two-person team. These people will be deployed as a team, and prefer that they know one another prior to deployment.
This is a paid deployment if you can get away from your regular job. See the link below for more information.
