My wife is thinking of trading her Mazda 6 in for a mazda 3.She currently gets an average of 21 mpg with her mazda 6.She would like to get a bit more mpg and she doesn't mind downsizing to a mazda 3.

She loves the look of the Mazda 3 and it seems to be rated very high but I'm just looking for some feedback from anyone that has one.

The mpg on the 2006 is rated 25 to 31.

Thanks for any feedback,Markr

You might check the Mazda forums... most owners there are reporting 24-28mpg with the 2.3L equipped Mazda3. Couple of co-workers here drive them, and they claim they have a lot of power.

I bought my daughter one last November and she loves it. I love driving it also. Got the 5 speed manual. It handles so well and really moves. Highly recommend it. Especially for the price (around $16,000). The 5 door comes loaded:

2.3-liter 4-cylinder engine with 160 hp

17-inch 5-spoke alloy wheels

4-wheel disc brakes

Standard A/C

TomT....dejavue....that is exactly what we bought Rue for graduation, same color and everything. Currently I am driving it (BTW, I'm not giving it back), it gets about 33 mpg. And yes, the 5 speed manual can really haul some B***! I really love driving it.You would not believe how much space the hatch has. I can easly put $300.00 worth of groceries back there.

Trust me, she would love it!

Like many here...my wife drives a Mazda3 five-door. Due to increasing gas prices, I have been driving it to work lately. Apparently, my driving style is "a bit aggressive" as I get about 16-17 MPG in the ST and just got 25 MPG in the Mazda. It's very quick and a blast to drive. We have two kids in car seats and there is plenty of room for them in the back and the hatchback style comes in very handy. I don't care for the style and looks of the four door...but that's me.
