Any opinions greatly appreciated. I have no problem cutting a 4" hole in the right fender well. Really want to know if it makes a difference going with a system using "outside" air such as the Zabteck. Also opinions regarding aftermarket mufflers such as Flowmaster or Borla. I have spoken to several specialty exhaust shops and all three said no appreciable gain in MILEAGE. HP gain is nice but it comes with added "noise". Thanks ST dudes! :)

K&N cold air = under hood temp

Zabteak cold air = true ambient air temp

Your decision!!!

I've had a K&N, MAC, and now a Zabtec True CAI on my 2004 STA. The Zabteck kit is by far the best. Gives you true ambient air temp vs underhood air temp. Not only that, but Zabteck's customer service is outstanding, and purchasing from them helps support this great site!

Definetly Zabteck True Cold Air Intake. I love it. I still should write a review and post it on this site. Im still waiting to see what kind of affect it had on the MPG

Thanks Guys! Almost "wasted" $210 on the K & N Series 57 from ModBargains.com. The overwhelming consensus points to Zabteck by a mile. Great to hear "word of mouth" testimonials regarding Todd (Zabteck). Expert help and service are definitely a priority over saving a couple of $$$. Even if Costco or Sam's sold the identical product I will ALWAYS go to the specialist FIRST. Aloha, Steve

swshawaii,

I have a 3.75" hole saw (the one needed for the Zabteck Cold Air Intake) if you want to buy it from me. Ill sell it to you cheap.

Let me know,

George T.

I have the 57 series K&N intake kit which I picked up from modbargains...

Best price I could find online.

I would also recommend going with the Zabteck intake. Not that my intake is giving me any problems or anything like that, but it would be awesome to support a site sponsor, besides the fact that it's specially made for our vehicles and Zabteck's infamous customer service

The explanation(s) of a "true cold air" intake vs. other systems. Bottom line, what is the gain in terms of HP and mileage? I don't care about sounding "racy", got that out of my system a long time ago. I enjoy music with the windows down.

Just intalled mine, and LOVE IT! Todd put up with a lot of stupid questions from me, so seriously great customer service, and the aprts:banana::cool: came perfect, installed pretty simple, and the sound is fantastic! So very worth every penny, even my ricer friend is like "Holy crap, that things works better than mine, can I get one and mod it?"

Swshawaii, bottom line is that I notice a huge increase in throttle reponse, the engine lets loose much easier, I know its breathing better now. I know for the first few months my mileage will suck, since getting on it is so much fun right now. in terms of performance, I would hit around 70 for a particular strength of freeway on ramp. Taking same ramp with intake, I am hitting almost 80, so there is a huge performance gain at the low eng of the spectrum, which really surprised me.

And yea, you can't beat Todd's customer service.
