this stuff I find fantastic, run two rain gauges, an anemometer, couple barometers, tied into a Doppler radar loop that runs 24/7 on the puter.

Boring to most I suppose, but fun to track.

have a friend who is a meterologist for the local paper, we banter back and fourth via email about his sattelite projections, i watch the birds at my feeders, the deer activity in the hood, how many and what kind of ducks we have in the ponds.

so far my projections are better than his, just fun stuff:banana:

My brother is into weather a lot. He has had a rain gauge for years and got a weather station 10 years ago. I used to go over to his house occasionally when he just had the rain gauge and I'd fill it up to 2 or 3 inches. He worked 3rds and was asleep so he had no idea I had been there and what it had done during the day. He'd call me up and tell me about how much it had rained like he always did and I'd just say that I didn't see any rain. I did this a number of times until I made the mistake of telling his wife what I was doing. He wasn't mad but I'm sure I irritated him...LOL!

Bill, I don't find it hard to believe at all that you can outforcast the professionals.

check the weather here on long isle at least 2x per day on local cable news12 or on the net.

also check fla weather daily :)

amazed at all type's of weather. living in n. carolina in the early 80's enjoyed the tornadoes and on long isle in the late 70's the winter blizzards. no where near the severe type of weather the rest of the nation experiences.

I have a Davis weather station set up, and was the coordinator for the local Skywarn group for a number of years. I storm chase in the local 3 state area when I can. The ST is great for that!(only one hail dent... ) I have aways had a big interest in weather. I was going to be a meteorologist before I learned about something called forestry, which was offered at a lot of the same schools that meteorology was.

I had a PEET Bros 2000 station a few years ago. I wasn't able to take it with me when I loved but I enjoyed every minute of it. I loved being able to record stuff in real time and I even had alarms set up for for high wind gusts, flash floods, excessive cold, etc. It was quite fun! I really need to get another one now!

Aloha Bill. I live on the Big Island of Hawai'i. Every burg over has its own weather. The only forecasts are for Honolulu, 110 miles away. I watch the barometer but no matter what it says, it rains some every day. Have you found any Internet sites that will give localized weather?

somewhat soggy Ed
