Since there are so many Ford afficionados here, I thought I'd throw this question out there. My Mom is looking for a vehicle she can "sit up high" in (she's 5'3") that gets good fuel economy and is large enough for my Dad to drive as well (he's 6'1").

Any experience owning/working on them? Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Hey,

I work at a dealership as a ford sales rep and since my time that I have been here, I have not seen one of those vehicles come into the shop. The warranty is also amazing for the hybrids.

Basic Coverage 3yrs 60,000klm

Corrosion Warranty 5yrs unlimited distance

Roadside Assistance 5yrs 100,000klm

Extended Hybrid Warranty 8yrs 160,000klm

If you are doing lots of city driving you will see the savings, If you are doning mostly highway etc, then you will only see slight savings. On the highway the engine mostly stays on gas however will turn off occasionaly. In the city in stop and go traffic it will be the best.

Hope this helps.

Make shure they get the electric drivers seat. It has more adjustment than the standard seat. We have an '08 escape xlt V6. It is averaging 18mpg mixed driving. I expect more when the motor breaks in. We had an '01 V6 that was getting over 20mpg mixed driving.

My wife's car is a non-hybrid Escape 4WD. We all love it. We travel alot on and off road, through snow, etc. It has never failed on us. It is pretty comfy, even in back. Handles well. Our next Escape may be a hybrid, we'll see what the long term reviews are like.

We own an 05 Escape 4X4 Hybrid. My wife loves it. 32MPG. A little pricey to get dealer service but it's still been a good car for us.
