I feel bad for Phil Mickelson.. He seems to be struggling so much with his injury.. He just had 4 hits out of the deep rough in a row.. Some holes he does remarakbly well, but then he hits one in the rough, and from there to the rough to the rough....

If he is having this much trouble with his wrist in the first round, how does he expect to last until Sunday. If he makes the cut, and drops out after that will the first person to not make the cut be allowed to play??

Do you think Michelle said, "Wii would like NOT to play!"

(if you've seen the commercial for the Wii along this same vein then you get it)

Phil's a wuss - he's been injured for over a week - a real athlete would have had that 'healed' or 'medicated' by now.

i refuse to watch it.. not that i don't like golf, it just screws traffic up around this area to the point it just makes you sick till everyone leaves.

I was just telling the wife how the shot from the blimp was showing how the pedistrian bridge goes across the turnpike, and the commentators were commenting on how well the traffic was moving, while the backup appeared to be on the foot bridge across the turnpike...

I don't live real far away but I don't have to travel over that way, thank God. When they last had the Open at Oakmont in '94, my then-employer (Allegheny General) was one of the sponsors and they asked if any of us wanted to be course marshals. A lot of us said "Sure!", then they told us we had to use our vacation time. I don't think anyone took them up on it.

While I like Phil, I too think he needs to drop out before the cut. It's obvious he's hurting.

I was on the ropeline at the 18th green at Winged Foot last year when he had the collapse on the 18th hole (hit the concession tent, hit a tree, hit the bunker). I thought that place was tough -- if there was a player in the rough, you couldn't see his shoes because it was so thick -- but Oakmont just looks like a monster.

Rocks

Dude on the Golf Channel poured a bottle of water on a green and it all rolled off...downhill...a looong way.

My money is on Tiger, the local papers said he's practiced there more in the last month than anybody else.

Poor Phil. Ended up just 4 over par yesterday. Man, if I only shot 4 over I think I would just give up the game of golf .;)
