I think I finally found what I needed (been looking for several hours now!) In the audiophile unit (which is what I have) there are three connections in the back of the unit. In the below image, any idea what the connector no. is for the far left connection. It is the square connection with 8 pins. I believe I need to order this.

I already have the METRA 70-1771 and 71-1771.

I am pretty sure that the top left plug is the wire harness that runs from the radio to the passengers kick panel and then ends there. From there, another wire harness plugs into that harness and runs back to the sub.

Not all Tracs have the harness for the radio installed. It depends on if it came with an amp or not. My 01 did not have the amp but did have the wire harness. I bought a radio and a sub (factory) and and wire harness that runs back to the amp and installed them into my 01 with no problem. Many 01 job 1's did not have the front harness that goes to the radio though.

Also, if you are in need of the harness from the radio to the kick panel it is not available by it's self as I understand it. It is part of the dash harness. I do know of others that have gotten the ends from Tracs in salvage yards and made their own harness.

Someone will jump on this and correct me if I am wrong....

Hmm..

I am changing out headunits, from the one above to the Pioneer 6CD MP3 player pictured below. The back of the unit has two of the connections that the audiophile unit has... the far right and far left connections. I suppose I DO NEED this square connection on the left to be able to run the amp, correct?!

I would think your correct but I am not too familiar with the radio your putting in. Others here will have a better knowledge than I in this case..

The second photo looks like my radio on the 05 Adrenalin. Sorry, I haven't looked behind it and figure out the set up or if there is an amp to power the factory sub. Others with the Adrenalin package might chime in.
