Just wondering if anyone else is having trouble putting the trac in gear after starting? A couple of times I have had to pump the brakes a couple of times to get it to go into gear. Most times it does ok though. My husband worked for Ford building the F-150's and he said that they had a couple of trucks do the samething. (To explain a little better- The button you push on the gear shift to put it in gear does not want to disengage.)

Thanks

There is a solenoid that allows the shifter to move once all things are correct, (brake pedal pushed in, key in proper location). I have seen the solenoid fail and it creates the issue you are having...

May be worth looking into....

Yeah !! My dads 07 did the same thing. Started out maybe once a week he had the problem then progressed. Until it left him stuck at the post office. There is a release button somewhere but I am not exactly sure where. But had to get the dealer to replace the switch under warranty.

BITSI (Brake Ignition Transmission Safety Interlock) switch could be going

bad or have a loose wire or short. Maybe someone on here could help you

with the location of the switch, as I don't know where it is on our Tracs.

flutterbymom- you have an 07 so it is still under warranty, take it in and make them fix it.
