Hi All, Discovered the AC Clutch setup has gone bad and was preventing the serpentine belt from properly moving when running. I did pick up a new clutch but noticed damage to the compressor hub and decided to leave it to my mechanic. I did unhook the wires to the clutch so the wheel the belt goes around can move freely and did check to make sure the compressor and clutch are not locking it up and that works. Is there anything else I may need to disconnect so the ac clutch and compressor want cause the serpentine belt to fail as we are out of town and have a 2 hour drive to the mechanic.

We have greatly enjoyed our 2003 Sport Trac since new but are being hit hard with too many mechanical issues so may have to finally say goodbye to the beast.

That should be good. As long as the clutch bearing is free. If you can spin the sheeve freely by hand. You should get home.

Most likely the compressor is what is locking up. Since the clutch sheeve spins freely.
