Hello,

I replaced by brakes this weekend and came across something that has me a little worried. when I took off the passenger side rear rotor I noticed that the entire lower half of the dust shield looked wet. It has a thick coat of dirt/grim on it, making me think that the problem has been happening for a while. I don't believe that the brakes were leaking so could it be a bad seal of some type? also should I be worried about low fluid? if so where do i check that at?

Thanks

Bad Axle Seal...... Plain and simple...

I agree,,,

If it was a was a caliper issue (brake fluid) you would see the fluid starting at a higher point and would find the fluid low in the master cylinder...

An easy way to remove the axle seal is to use the lip on the end of the axle itself. Hook the lip into the edge of the seal and leverage it out.

It will normally pop right out for you...
