bed cover

Old cover gave out and had to get another.I have a 2002 model and bought bed cover from another Sport trac owner of a 2003. I went to get it re keyed and nobody knows how to get the tumbler out of cover. My old on just pulled off the cable mech and the cylinder came out to get re keyed.
This will not pull off like my other to be re keyed and i am afraid if i force it i will do damage to cover and they are not cheap.
Has anyone done this before and can give me advice.
