Has anyone added any aftermarket bed lights?

I was looking at the RECON stuff and was wondering if anyone had tried it...http://www.gorecon.com/product.php?pk=90&pname=Part+%23+26417+-+Universal+Cargo+Area+Bed+Rail+Light+Kit&p_cat=8

Figured I'd try to wire it up to the trailer harness or even the bed outlet. Thoughts?

Very good product and the customers we have sold them to loved them !!!

pretty generic of an install then?

How about mounting? Double sided 3M body kit type tape?

Lenght of each strip? Made to fit a trac or made to fit a 6' bed?

Thanks! Really need some bed lighting

I have the recon bed lighting system. It is great will lite up the area around your vehicle at night. As for install, it is easy but if you want to hide the wires as I did then it is a little more involved. I removed the top cap of the bed and drill holes to run the wires through. Also the switch that is comes in the kit is not good at repelling water and mine lasted a week. I will get some pics of mine for you tonight.

I ran a toggle switch from the cab, removed the wheel wells, cut out holes in the bed liner and glued them in place . . . a PIA, but a near factory look.

I took pleanty of pics and have been meaning to throw together a project, but haven't had the time.

The only problem is, just like my Recon 3rd brake light, I had a row of their LEDs go out on me. Good thing I installed 6 of them, but it still sucks.

Here's some pics from my library:

My bed is covered 99% of the time and it's quite dark in there at night.

I needed a remedy right away for a spontaneous road trip were taking.

I bought a couple of "Tap Lights" for $3 each.

One on each side of the bed, attached with Velcro.

That was over 5 years ago. It worked out so well, they're still there.

One AA battery in each and I've never had to replace either of them, since running an LED takes so little juice.

They've gotten wet a couple of times, but it didn't seem to hurt them.

Not saying it's perfect, but it's worked well for me.

I tried mounting one of the cheap lights you can buy at a hardware store or Walmart, I added a cigargte lighter adapter and plugged it into the bed. I had it attached to my tonneau cover, it lasted for a week before the cold of MN made the thick double sided tape lose its stickiness. I think I'm going to add some caulk or a similar glue so it will stay up there next time.

other pics are in my library, I did 2 led marker lights with a mercury switch on my cover. I taped the wires up and then caulked over the tape to make sure they stay in place.
