Best residential A/C system for Florida?

Hi all,



My home central A/C system will need replacing in the next 6 months (if not sooner).



I had someone come out today and recommend a Lennox XC14 or 14ACX. I would also need a new air handler, recommendation was Lennox CBX27UH.



They are offering a 10 year warranty on all covered components for the A/C unit.



Could you provide any recommendations on this and other brands?



Anybody have a Consumer Reports account where you could find their ratings of home central A/C units?



How about a website that compares make/models? I haven't found one yet.



BTW, the unit doubles as a "furnace".

Installer makes way more difference than the brand of equipment. Get one with industrial experience. Look for complete Manual J calculation for your home.

I just had to put a new package system on last year and went with American Standard. Last month made 1 full year of having the system installed and my electric bill went down $900, and I kept the house 2 degrees cooler in the summer than previous years :banana:

Last year I went with a 13seer payne. It is only a re-labeled carrier. 10yr warranty.
