I've been looking for another Sport Trac to buy for Carol so she can have a truck and I can get my ST back. I came across this last eek on C.L. and couldn't pass it up. $2,500

It's a 1997 Mercury Mountaineer V8 AWD with 105k miles on it. It's got grey leather interior, power moonroof, power everything, 6 disc cd changer and tape deck(get to play my cassettes again) JBL subwoofer (factory option), 15 inch claw style wheels that don't have one nick or scratch on them.

It was owned by an older lady that drove it five miles back and fourth to work and kept it in the garage. The interior is perfect, not a stain or rip anywhere and they had three kids and grandkids in this thing. The pictures don't do this ruck justice.

The only issues it has is the rightside rocker is rusted below the rear door ($47 for new rocker panel getting ordered this weekend), it needs upper balljoints (getting ordered this weekend) and there's a spot on the rear driverside wheelwell that the paint gor chipped off, all easy fixes.

The couple to extremely good care of it and I've never seen a nicer Ex/ Mounty anywhere around. I've driven it to the gas station and had everyone looking at it.

Great deal Jerry! Looks very clean, congrats.

My neighbor/ landlord is a body man/ frame repair guy for over 45 years and he just came over and was amazed ho clean it was he offered me $3k before I even opened the doors or hood, he's gonna weld a new rocker panel on for me when I get it in and paint it to match.

Carol can't wait to get home from work to be able to drive it, can't wait to see the smile on her face when she pulls into the driveway.:grin:

I couldn't wait to get my Tac back, I need to do quite a bit of work to it that I wasn't able to do while she drove it daily.

I just went and bought a new Bosch 850 CCA/1000 battery because when I took the battery cover off it said Oct. 2005 on the side, instead of waiting to get stranded somewehere I replaced it.

I think when I swap the wheels and tires off the Trac I'm gonna put the 1.5" spacers on the Mounty just to give it a wider stance.

Wow, that is very clean for a 1997 model. Even in average shape it would probably run $4-$5K... You did good Jerry!

Eddie, I was thinking about running the ST wheels in the winter time with snow tires to save the Mounty wheels from being eaten by the road salt. Im going out to replace the Michelins that are on it now because they're at the wear lines and I want the Mounty to be as safe as I can make it for my pregnant wife. I really like the General Grabber AT2's but I won't need snow tires if I get those on the Mounty rims.

Jerry,

Take a look at the yok ht/s. They get good ratings for year round.

The size for the mounty will be non-directional. Easy raotation.

I wanted them for my trac, but. My size in 18" were directional.

Nice Mounty Jerry. I too had a '97 exactly like yours a while back when I lived in Colorado. I had BFGoodrich Radial Long Trail T/A's (like the ones Eddie used to have on his Trac) in 30 X 9.5 X15. They ran smooth and quiet, yet with the AWD, never left me stranded even in the wildest of Colorado blizzards. That was the last tire I put on that vehicle for that same reason (family mover). Be advised, though, I ended up getting rid of it because it tried cleaning out my bank account at 98,000 miles when all four O2 sensors went out at the same time. That's when I got rid of it. It looks sweet. I know Household 6 is gonna love it. Mine did. Good luck.:supercool:

Thanks guys, I'll look into those tires. The great thing is that the complete exhaust system (manifolds, cats, muffler, everything) have been replaced about a year and half ago.

I pulled it onto the ramps today checked under it and noticed I need to replace the trans lines up by the rad support because their (starting to rust), reseal the rear differential (leaking), and replace the passenger side axle shaft seal on the front axle (leaking). All pretty easy and cheap fixes. I'm taking it to get the coolant system flushed out this week, it's alittle dirty.
