Aloha, two or three times tn the last two days the brake fees as though there isn't any boost. The peddle is hard and no stopping power. If I let up and hit it again, all is good? Does that sound like the booster and is there a check to be sure that is what the problem really is?

Could be the check valve on the brake booster. Or very small vacuum leak.

The times I had a bad booster. The internal diapram ruptured. When I put my foot on the brake at idle. It caused a vacuum leak and the motor stagered.

As a former airline pilot, marginal or malfunctioning brakes are in my Top 3 list of Things I'd Rather Not See. Get thee to a competent repair shop.

Thanks guys, I will check the engine speed at idle for that stammer. I think that moisture in the system would compress and the pedal would go down more. This is a hard pedal.

You are right Vic, brakes and tires are the only thing between us and a brick wall.

Thanks for your help Ed

I had the same issue, Took some time to diagnose, but a new master solved My problem...

EEEE, I want something cheaper than that. I tried the brakes at idle and there was no stammer.

I will look for leaks, Is that check valve on the hose connected to the booster?

Ed

Check valve is the part on the booster the hose connect to. It will come off, for inspection. Can be bought seperate.
