I need to do a front brake job on my wifes Escape. Has anyone used the Pep Boys brand rotors and ceramic pads ? Hows the quality ? They are priced almost half the cost of the name brand Raybestos PGs. Thanks

What are they charging and what kind of warranty are they offering? If they do not offer a warranty, you might want to look elsewhere since other parts stores are now offering 50K mile warranty on pads and lifetime warranties on rotors and calipers.

Rich..They are offering lifetme warranty on both brands, against defects. no warranty on exsesive wear out..

I went through 2 sets of pads from autozone before they informed that they were not the OEMs. Both sets "hardend" on me within 2 months ... it felt like the rotors were being destroyed everytime I stopped.

The pair I have now are OEMs from O'Reily's. They cost about $20 more, but it was well worth it. Over 1 year now and no more problems.

texassizeruckus,

The are only OEM pads if the the came from Ford.

The aftermarket sells brake pads as replacements to fit the OEM calipers but composition of the friction material can vary greatly. If you buy cheap brake pads or brake shoes, you are likely to get cheap organic material that does not last. Nearly all newer braking systems recommend metalic, carbon or ceramic friction material for maximum brake performance.

I paid $74 for Raybestos Quiet Stop Carbon Metallic pads for my 2001 Sport Trac.

Eddie, yes, the semi metallic are regular friction material with the metal shavings mixed in.. the Carbon are the metal but with a carbon friction material...

As far as pep boys stuff goes, their line is made by rabestos for them. I have had much luck with their stuff...
