I just bought SP slotted rotors with hawk brake pads and am having some horrible squealing.

But here's the thing ... I had a friend put the brakes and rotors on and he had put the rotors on backward (they were uni-directional). Well i drove with them for about a week or so with them and they squealed like crazy. they were finally corrected and i went thru the breaking in process again, but I can not get rid of the squealing sound still.

any suggestions of what i should do?

Did you use anti squeal on the back of the pads????

Also when you corrected the direction, You should have lightly sanded the pads and rotors..

Here is what I did. I went to Advance Auto and on the counter in front they had a small package of brake parts lube. I put it on every part that makes contact with the pads (on the caliper, etc.) and also on the back of the pads. No more squeeling and that has been 5 months ago and countless times through the high pressure wash to get the salt and grime off the ST. Try it. It was only like 99 cents (maybe cheaper) for the packet. I got two of them and still have one left. I think what it is, is the slotted rotors are grabbing the pads and making them rub on the caliper, etc.;)

GM,

Stonemiser is correct. You need to get a special high-temperature brake lube and lubricate anywhere the pads contact the caliper or slider surgaces of the caliper frame/bracket. Also check if the pads were equiped with slippers (stick non metal isolators to eliminate any pad vibrations from transfering to the calipers and creating the loud squeaking.
