Have Gen 2 '07 V6 2WD with 60K miles. Brakes are pulsing slightly, indicating rotor warpage. Considering Akebono ceramic pads and rotor upgrade. Recommendations?

I myself love Akebono pads but seriously I don't think you can go wrong with the Motorcraft repalcement pads. As far as rotors go what do you hope to gain by going to a different rotor??

Two years ago I replaced my oem brakes with Centric pads and rotors all around. These don't seem to stop as well and they produce a lot of dust. My chrome wheels will be noticeably brown after a month or so. Never had this problem with the OEM brakes.

l1tech, you've got a good point about the rotors. I'll probably stick with those and just replace the pads. The reviews I've read on Akebono pads seem to say there's less brake dust than OEM pads.

I like my performance friction pads on oem rotors.

They like heat. The hotter they get the better they stop. No fade.

NAPA Ultra Premium rotors are the best there is for the money. Cost more but just lift the box and you'll see the difference. Only ones that will last more than a year in my wife's car. She does not believe in downshifting out of OD on steep hills. Had a set cut three times and there were still legal. :driving:

I put Wagner rotors & thermoquiets ceramics on my 01. That was 95k ago and the pads are just now due to replace. Im looking at Bosch'snew coated rotor with thermos on my 07. After some breif research it sounds like the OE rotors seem prone to warpage, especially the rears.

fastJimmy- Why would you consider anything else, but the Wagner's after 95K?

If they performed to your expectations, that is almost twice the normal service life. :banghead:

Settled on the Akebono ceramic pads but decided to just resurface the rotors. Bought the pads through Amazon and went to NAPA for new hardware. This was my first time working on these brakes, but it was easy. Just take your time and look at how it all goes together before you dismantle, and watch out that you haven't twisted a brake line when you reassemble (ask me how I know). Replace the brake fluid and bleed system properly. I'm really pleased with how everything came out, and recommend the Akebono pads.

How are they for agressive driving - I had them on my Jag and loved them, put them on my STA beast and actually find them less than stellar - even with R1 kryogenic'd rotors that have gas reliefs and drilled - I need more WHOAH perhaps - Ideas
