Hello All,

I am an owner of a 2001 Sport Trac with about 90,000 miles on it and have recently encountered an issue with my Brakes. When coming to a slow rolling stop i am noticing some vibration in the brake pedal. It almost seems like the ABS is kicking in or that the brakes are grinding to a halt. I brought the car in and the front rotors and pads were replaced but the problem still exists. There are no visible leaks and the break fluid is full. Does anyone have any thoughts or has anyone had this happen to them?? I have a friend with a Chevy Silverado whom this happened too and it was his ABS sensor that went and Chevy recalled them I believe.

Thanks for the help and great site. I've been an owner since July of 00 and have enjoyed everyones posts for many years.

Thanks

I bet it is your rear drums are out of round... IF you feel it in the pedal and the ABS motor is not kicking in, You would hear it, Have the rear drums machined....

That sis the number 1 reason of brake pedal movement if the steering wheel isn't shaking during braking..

This only works on vehicles with rear drum brakes, but press down on the parking brake while rolling to see if you feel that vibration. If so, it's the rear brakes.

I say I notice the brake pedal vibration about 50% of the time when coming to a slow rolling stop. I'll try the parking brake in a vacant lot somewhere. I am afraid to bring it to a dealership as the $ is scaring me away. I am getting married shortly and an even larger bill on top of rotors and pads is not what the doctor ordered.
