I've got a Rant/Question.

RANT:

So I go down to my 2nd level parkade this morning, disarm my alarm, it indicates it had tripped. I take a walk around the vehicle and see no damage or abuse, must have been a loud muffler or something. This afternoon I leave the office, the sun is shining and the birds are singing. When I walked up to my drivers door I noticed someone tried to use a screwdriver instead of a key in my lock! I was only one of two cars hit with the attempted break in, the second vehicle, all they stole was a jacket. Thankfully they did not get into mine. I called the office and they were kind enough to burn a copy of the surveillance video for me. So now, I have the vehicle entering the parkade (forced entry) and the vehicle leaving the parkade with a partial license plate. That gives me some relief, but do you think the police will really do anything? I'd love to catch the *******s, and who knows, the car is probably stolen so this will probably go nowhere.

This is how I feel... If you want something out of my ST, let me know, leave me a note or something. I have no problem giving it to you if you want it bad enough, PLEASE DONT WRECK MY VEHICLE TAKING IT. Now I have to have the door lock replaced. I'm sure if they did get into the ST they would have trashed my dash ripping my deck our or something. Tell me what you want, its yours!!!

QUESTION:

Anyone know what the approx cost of replacing the key cylinder on an 07 is?

Thanks for listening or I guess, reading, I feel much better.

Times like this are why I keep a $0 deductible on my comprehensive coverage. It's only about 20 bucks more a year.

Sorry some punk(s) tried to get into your ride.....at least they didn't get in and it could have been worse as far as what they would have tore up, etc.

I doubt also that the police will be able to do anything other than take the report.

Here in Texas it seems the hot item to steal is the Cat's....there is more and more of that going on around the metroplex.

Sorry, no idea what it costs to have a door lock replaced.

who knows, maybe the cops have other reports about other thefts at othe parking lots. With a partial plate number and a view of that vehicle...those are really good clues for them.

the question is....Do they want to do their job?

It's about $75 to get a new lock cylinder. It has to be built to match your key. Some shops charge anywhere from 1 to 2 hours worth of labor to rebuild the cylinder and install it.

I'm assuming you have to take the door panel off which in turn = rattles, I hate rattles. I think I'll wait until I sell or trade in.
