buying 22'' rims need help with tire size

im looking to buy 22'' rims,but not sure on tire size.are 305/40/r22's good(without rubbing) or should i go smaller like 285 or somehthing?also,does this mess up your transmission?i've heard it does hurt your transmission going with bigger rims,but not sure if its true

It won't really hurt the trann too much...but then again, this isn't the best of tranny's out there.



I've seen people run both sizes, although the slightly skinner (the 285) seems to be the better choice for lack of rubbing. If you're stock height, it may not matter either way.

Definately put on larger diameter brakes because of the increased momentum that the larger wheels will cause.

I just installed 22x9.5 American racing wheels. I went with a 265 35 r 22 Falken tire. This is nice combo because I test fitted 3 other sizes, all larger and each of them rubbed the sway bar at full compresion in either direction.
