After reading a lot of stuff on this site and others like Tirerack.com, I was all ready to buy a set of Cross Terrains to replace my stock wranglers. I decided the possible increased comfort would be worth the price (plus they seem to be good for snow and rain).

Then I ran into a thread about PSI and the controversy over having tires with higher max PSI being more comfortable. Of course the Cross Terrain's max PSI is only 35 lbs., which is also the rear PSI recommended by Ford. I have been putting about 30 pSI in the Wranglers.

Am I actually going to wind up with a rougher ride due to maxing out the PSIs of this tire??? I was debating between the Cross Terrains (for comfort) and the Dunlop Rovers (for price), which have a higher PSI.

Please help!!!!

I got some Cross Terrains for my wife's Liberty and she absolutely loves them! They are very quiet, vibration-free, and show extremely little wear in 30,000 miles. She hasn't driven on snow in them yet, but we are confident that they will be a million times better in snow than the CrapYear SR/A tires that came from the factory. The SR/As are actually even WORSE than the RT/S tires, if you can believe that!

I'd recommend the Cross Terrains if you don't have to don't need to do any mud driving.

I had Michelin Cross Terrains originally on my ST. They were a great tire for all kinds of weather and I got about 50,000 miles out of them. I was running 35 psi all the way around and the ride was comfortable. I don't think you will have a problem and it's usually a matter of personal preference when it comes to these kinds of things.

I still have the original Cross Terrains on my '04 and they have lot's of life left at 50,500 miles. Best tires I've ever had in rain and snow. Max inflation is 44 PSI marked on tires [235/70SR16]. I run at 35 or 36 psi all around.

I had them as OEM on my '02, great tires in the snow for the 1st 2 winters, the 3rd they were so-so, and the 4th were terrible, as the tread wore down. i put on 20k miles a year... Put on some Kelly Trex last month, LT245/75/16's.... so far so good, waiting for snow...

I had cross terrains on my '01 when I bought it. They lasted a long while. From there I went to the dueler revos, and they were a great tire and had better off road capabilities (off road to me is in a wet grassy field, they did not spin as easily) and I had to replace my revos because my ball joints went bad and ruined the tires. I then got the Goodyear Forteras. They were by far my favorite. They rode quiet, smooth and had good traction. I sold my '01 after having the Fortera for about 2 months. Now my '07 has the Michelin Cross Terrains on them again. Still a decent tire..

What are y'all doing to your tires? Our original equipment cross-terrains lasted over 100,000 miles! They passed safety inspection at 97,000, for those of you that think I like to run around on bald tires. Oh, and they listed 44 psi as the max pressure.

I guess that I'm the exception then because I did not get good wear (33/35 psi) out of mine. Didn't make it 40,000 miles. Different tire dealers have also foo-foo'd the tire based on their own experiences. I upgraded to the LTX M/S and they are doing great thus far. To each his own.

I've had the Cross Terrains on the '03 Trac for about 30,000 miles, and there appears to be a lot of tread remaining. They're a huge improvement over the Wranglers that came stock. They run quiet on highways and have excellent traction on dry roads. Lateral grip in the rain is good, but they will spin easily when accelerating hard on wet surfaces. Snow performance is adequate. Overall, I like them and would buy them again. I'd also consider the Forteras.

on my '07 ST the forteras came with it (xlt appearance package), they look like decent tires, haven't hit the missouri winters yet, would like more people's thoughts on those, the two comments I saw were favorable
