Got a wrong number call at work yesterday (I'm in Edmonton) from a guy in Kansas. He said it was 80 deg there and he was hot as hell... So I proceeded to mention it was 32 here and converted for him = 89f. Not all igloos and eskimos!

Fire works indeed!! Happy Birthday Canada!!!

Rob it is the same tempature here but the kicker is that is that hot inside our office.

Oh, Canada

Our home and native land,

True patriot love

In all thy sons command.

With glowing hearts

We see thee rise,

The true, north, strong, and free.

From far and wide

Oh Canada

We stand on guard for thee.

God keep our land

Glorious and free.

Oh, Canada we stand on guard for thee,

Oh, Canada

we stand on guard for thee.

I am very proud to be American, and love my country, but I must say--as far as national anthems go, "Oh Canada" kicks the Star Spangled Banner to the curb!

Canada, eh? Alright, I'll shoot off some fireworks tonight

I have realized that ANY reason is a good reason to shoot off fireworks in the South.

North - July 4.

South - New Years, Bowl Game Victory(pick your favorite SEC or ACC), St. Patricks Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and any other thing deemed special - birthday, divorce, finished an ear of corn w/only 3 teeth, being featured on COPS, your sister finally gave in to your advances,

I am trying to adapt, I just don't have a sister.

I agree on that one....."The rockets red glare, bombs bursting in air"....that line seems to much war minded for my taste. Just makes me think that the the US wants to be involved in wars....ours or someone elses. :(

True--although I wasn't even talking in terms of the lyrics. Musically, "Oh Canada" is much more pleasant to listen to, and it's far easier for the masses to sing, which is an important criteria for an anthem. Even highly trained, skilled singers struggle with the key changes in "The Star Spangled Banner", but any old shlub can sing "Oh Canada" nearly perfectly.

Although I must say, as a kid, the first few times I heard "Oh Canada", I thought it was incredibly religiously disrespectful, as I thought all those hockey fans were saying, "Oh, Canada we stand on God for thee." :D

There was this mexican named Jose who came to America for the first time. He went to a baseball game and while sitting in his seat, he noticed everyone stood up and said "Oh say can you see" .....he jumped to his feet and said "Yes I can, yes I can" He went home to his family to tell them how America is such a great country and everyone wanted to make sure he was able to see the game. :D
