Some low life tried to steal my wifes Dakota last night in the parking lot where works. just had it painted 3 months ago and now the drivers door is all messed up and will have to be repaired and repainted, they busted out the ignition but couldn't get it started so they riped the stereo out of the dash and made off with it. fortunately we were able to get it started with the remote start and got it home. then I couldn't shut it off had to pull the cable from the ecm under the hood to shut her down.

Theres no damage that cant be fixed but it just ticks me off that somebody has the nerve to try and steal what you work so hard for. I thank God she didn't walk out in the middle of it, these idiots here are vicious and would as soon shoot you as look at you.

thanks for letting me rant a little.

Jim D,

Any parking lot survellience cams where she works?

Does the company she works for own or lease the building? If they lease, contact the parent company that owns the lot and lodge a complaint as they are responsible for providing a reasonably safe and crime free property.

Also, contact local police.

Good luck.

I would be pretty unhappy about it myself...

It would almost be better if they took the vehicle, less aggravation.

Good luck to you.

No surveillance, no witnesses, we did call local police and they came out and made a report. I believe the company she works for owns the building so I do not see any recourse there.

Thanks again for listening.

That sucks. Why do some people think it necessary to steal others belongings?? Just yesterday My mother-in-law took my son (4 years old and with reaingin wheels) on a bike ride around the lake on the trail around it. They both got off and parked thier bikes and waled around the corner to go a feed the ducks, something the do at least once a week. When they were walking back she saw a Suburban stopped on the street near the trail entrance. The kids in the suburban began yelling just as they came into view, and two other kids dropped thier bikes and ran. I don't know what they thought they were goign to do with a 12" boys bike with training wheels and a rusty old beach cruiser, but I guess they wanted to steal them just because. The sped off through the neighborhood. Soem of the neighbors saw them leaving, and they were just nicely waving at them (according to the neighbors) as if nothing was wrong.... Bastards...

My only brush with vehicular crime was a busted rear sliding window in an '89 GMC S15 pickup. It was broken in order to steal a pair of sunglasses and a cheap radar detector. The radar dector was mounted and in plain sight (my bad) but the glasses they had to rummage for.

I lived in Peekskill NY at the time. Lots of minorities. Yeah, yeah, blame me for profiling...blame the media for biasee reporting of crimes....but as Chris Rock said (and I paraphrase):

When it's 2 in the morning and I'm at the ATM, I'm not looking over my shoulder for the media, I'm looking for...

Why do people steal? Because they don't think they will get caught, and/or don't fear the consequences should they get caught. I think it's that simple.

Most respect and discipline is rooted at some point in fear. We would like to claim we are evolved and do the "right thing" because of some innate moral righteousness...but I tend to not kid myself there.

Most any of us, if we really thought we wouldn't get caught, or had little to lose once caught, would act very differently in life. I firmly believe that.

A couple of weeks ago we walked out to find that someone had broken into our Jeep Cherokee and stole the stereo and CD changer. Worst part is that is was probably someone that knew us because the CD changer was mounted under the back seat with no evidence that it was even there.

The officer that made the report told us that a fellow officer was moving out of the neighborhood because his patrol car had been broken into 3 times in the last 4 months.
