Just wanted to post this up because I thought I had seen some threads here before that mentioned catalytic converter thefts. It seems to be a problem here especially when folks have to leave their cars at BART. Hopefully, this news will slow thieves down a bit, but who knows?

Yep, I posted this about 6 months ago when my friends catalytic converter was stolen from his truck which was parked in front of his house.....the police indicated that his was among several others reported in his area.

People in Central Florida be aware as well. This was posted in the wanted section of Orlando's Craigs List today.....

Who knows what they are willing to do to get them, but obviously the need is now there.

Where would you go to recycle them anyway? I've got a cat off my 240 that I probably won't need anymore, if I can get some cash for it, more power to me.

Tiger,

Scrap yards are where you junk converters. Best thing is to call around to get the best price.

They don't pay much for really used cats, couple bux at most.

The ones that can bring 80/120 bux come off of newer cars, with a ratchet chain cutter (silent), you can remove one in 3 mins.

I have 3 stock y-pipes and 4 stock back cats off ST's.....

HMMM.... may make some phone calls tomorrow...
