Looking around on ebay and see some cheap atv's made in china for sale in the states. SUNL and AIM-EX are a couple brands I see. Almost half the cost of brand names like yamaha and honda. Anyone have any luck with these or hear anything about them? Looking for my kids...so thinking a 50cc is good for beginners? I see a lot of 110cc also....so is that for teenage years? I seen one in person here at the fair, the SUNL brand, and looks decent, like a knock off of a yamaha! Imagine that!!

I say if you're familiar with automotive work and don't fear working on it if it breaks down, then go for it. If you don't know how to work on engines, steering, etc, then get a name brand. Generally on eBay, you get what you pay for.

Oh, and I have no experience or know anyone with one of these.

you get what you pay for. i have had 4 honda atv's in my life and not a problem with one of them. i even crashed one into a pond and it was under water for 2-3 hours, when we pulled it out, it fired right up and ran perfect, lol

i have a 2006 honda rincon 650 now and that thing is unstoppable.....i also have calmed down some on my riding habits, lmao:lol:

I'm still young so I am into the fast quads. I have had a Yamaha Warrior, Yamaha Banshee, Yamaha 660R Raptor and Now a Yamaha YFZ 450. Every single one of these never let me down. People ask me all the time about these cheap quads becuase I have had so many quads. I always say, if you are willing to work on them, get them. You do pay for what you get. You could never ride those cheap machines like you could a Yamaha or a Honda or a Polaris, etc. If I was riding extremely causious, and not rough, get the cheap one. If you want to get dirty once in awhile and drive it hard, get your money out and pay for a name brand. well worth it.

I have a Yamaha ATV and literally beat on it as hard as I can. Absolutely no problems with it, and its a 1997. The thing is bulletproof, I think I'd spend the extra dough and get a name brand.

When I was younger (16ish) my first ATV was a 110 3 wheeler, Honda I think it was. I ten graduated to a Yamaha 4 wheeler, still a 110. The bike that U had last before I joined the military was a honda 225 4 wheeler. All 3 of them were plenty powerful for a youngster.

You need to be careful of the cheaper ATV, scooters etc. Here in California you cannot legally register any vehicle, even ATV's for off road use, without a valid VIN number. Most of the lower priced China units do not have VIN numbers, and can only be legally ridden on private property. The CHP just issued a memo that reinforces this policy and making it clear that any use of any of the vehicles on any public property is subject to fines. If you purchase one make sure it can be registered with a valid VIN.

If you have a 'Pep Boys' auto parts store near you they carry a nice selection of all the Chinese cheapy stuff. Boat motors, scooters, 4-wheelers, dirt bikes and dune buggy's. It is fun to go in there and look at them all. You can definitely tell they are built cheap but if it is for a young teenager or adults first off road vehicle and not going to be used to do crazy jumps and stuff I would give them a shot because of the very low price.

I'm gonna wait for China Gery Auto, LTD, to start selling their new model here in 2008.

I can't wait to get the one I saw on the website!

I'm gonna get the "Happy Pretty Shiny" model SUV with the "You Love It Long

Time!" package!!!

Package includes:

"Wheel for you steer to go in Direction You Want":

"Seat for you sit while you Steer!":

"Tires of for compound rubber-like material so you make Smooth Ride on going down

Road!":

Can't Wait!!!

:D:D:D:D:D:lol::lol::lol:

All Sarcasm Intended!:p

I know what those little ATV's cost. The dealer Theresa used to work at purchased some as a deal maker. "If we settle for XXX, we will throw in an ATV".

The wholesale cost of the Chinese ATV? About 1/3 of the Retail price.

I got this 50cc Chinese dirt bike for my nephew from ebay ~1 year ago. It still starts and runs real good. He's a little rough on it too.

I just think pictures like that look so fake. Looks like a model of a Trac with a toy in the bed.

My trac was just so clean when that picture was taken that it looked like a model. :D

Yep, thanks for the input! Most of the engines are hondas or suzukis engines, so should be ok to get parts for! But I'm not sure what to do since there is no VIN #! Here in Iowa, have to register it and get a sticker for public use! They just opened an old gypsum mine to be used for ATV's! About 500 acres, and the state/county built trails and jumps through out the property. So yea, just for starting out, they would be an ok ride! Not sure about how dependable they are!

Funny how some of you guys here dog Japanese autos, but won't hesitate in recommending a Japanese made ATV.
