Anyone have any experience with these?

The price sure looks tempting. This would be even cheaper than some of the ones Wal-Mart carries.

Would they be a decent upgrade from the factory speakers? I don't need any high-end audiophile stuff, but would like a little extra quality from the factory system.

fer : thats for a 4X6 not a 5X7 the ones he linked to are 4-way.

as for SDAT I have no clue but for that much it can't be harmful to try. If you are looking for a good speaker I suggest 5X7 Blaupunkt speakers I have a set and they sound amazing for the price (got them on ebay for $20/pair) or if you are willing to spend alittle more sounddomain.com has some nice RF 5X7 for $27/pair.

Here some 5X7 that are cheaper.

I think that if you appreciate your system enough that you need an upgrade from stock than why dont you just spend the money and get ones that are closer to 80-100.00 a pair. Otherwise your most likely just making a negilible improvement. Thats just my opinion. About 2 months ago I upgraded to 5x7 alpine type-r components and now I look forward to long trips just to hear my stereo.

I agree with Big D, I used to be a car audio installer so i've heard basic speaker upgrades and they really don't do much at all. If anything having a 3 or 4 way is just too much, the high frequency treble will sound fuzzy and way too sharp. Really what is the need for 2-3 extra tweeters? especially a 1/2", 1" and 2".

Spend the extra money and get something that works well and has a high "efficiency dB rating" the higher the better if running a stock head unit as they need less power to produce sound.

I am running Infinity Perfect 6.1 - 6" components in the front doors and Infinity Kappa Series 6x8" coaxials in the rear. All powered by a MTX MXA6004 4-channel amplifier. The sound is so clear and real its amazing.:D

While on the topic, I just bought a new Stereo, A Kenwood Excelon DPX-701(http://www.crutchfield.com/S-VIZ2vAquruT/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=280150&I=113DPX701)

And wanted to upgrade my speakers @ the same time. Was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this setup.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Gary, no need to with 4-way speakers. As stated here, they won't sound real good. You will have "overkill" on the high end. Go with a 2 or three way. Also, I'm not one to say "you get what you pay for". I have had ALOT of cheap speakers that sounded great. (Targa for one) I only got the Kicker two ways (woofer and tweeter only) that I have now because I got them Buy one/ Get one so I only spent $70 for 4 of them. And they sound great. Look around and get the best deal you can and remember, ANYTHING is better than the paper ones that are in there.;)

How many speakers do I need for my 01 Trac? I would also like to upgrade somewhat. I have a built in 6 cd system and a roady 2 XM radio receiver.
