So i got this check engine light on the way home from work today, swung by Autozone and they pulled the code for me. Guy actually had to look it up because he never heard of it before (heck, either did I)

so it looks like is Bank 1, sensor 1. I am assuming thats the Driver side? I guess in the morning I'll do the wiggle test and check the wires for it. After that, I don't really know what else to do. I doubt my extended warranty will cover it either.

Let me know if you have any words of advice or have had this happen before

I am not seeing a 0053 code. I have these listed, are you sure you not missing a number in the front of the 53???

P0153 Heated O2 Sensor Circuit Slow Response (Bank 2, Sensor 1)

P0253 Injection Pump Fuel Metering Control A Low

P0353 Ignition Coil Primary C / Secondary Circuit Malfunction

P0453 Evap Emission Control System Pressure Sensor High Input

P0530 A/C Refrigerant Pressure Sensor Circuit Malfunction

P0553 Power Steering Pressure Sensor Circuit High Input

P0753 Shift Solenoid A Electrical

And a fair amount more, but you get the point...

Ford Codes start at P0100 and up, but generic codes start at P0001

so im not sure if i take it to ford if they find something else, but the code reader DID say P0053

The code reader is wrong and Ford codes DO NOT start at P0100.

P0010 - Variable Cam Timing Solenoid A Circuit

P0011 - Variable Cam Timing Over-retarded (Bank 1)

P0012 - Variable Cam Timing Over-retarded (Bank 1)

P0040 - Upstream Oxygen Sensors Swapped from Bank to Bank (HO2S-11-21)

P0040 - Upstream Oxygen Sensors Swapped from Bank to Bank (HO2S-11-21)

P0068 - ETC Throttle Position (TP) Sensor Inconsistent with MAF Sensor

P0068 - Throttle Position (TP) Sensor Inconsistent with MAF Sensor

Of course, these are from the Ford repair manual. I would be willing to bet they are actual codes.
