Check Engine Light-P0401 Code

Check engine light continues to stay on. I've changed the fuel cap, a cracked elbow on vacum line, egr valve, and the little plastic box by the egr valve(forgot the name of it). Anyone have suggestions? Thanks.

Not trying to be a smartass or anything, but did you clear the codes and reset the light?

If you did, is it still showing the same code?

I believe your are referring to the DPFE Sensor. Which is a common failure and is normally a good guess.



It could also be the EGR which is also a common failure.



You can remove it and check it to some degree to see if it is stuck or will move, clean the carbon away from the pintal and things to that nature...

yes, i've cleared the code and the light will come back on shortly down the road.

i work in a ford shop and ive seen a few explorers need new filler necks for the gas tank, it may be leaking around there
