I have a 2001 Sport Trac that I had an engine light come on several years ago after a fresh load of gas at a gas station in Detroit that look like it was going to float away in the rain we were getting and when I pulled away the light came on. Called the dealer and he stated that the light may have sensed water in the gas and that as long as it wasn't acting up then drive it and it would reset it's self. Well, 3 months later I took it in and the garage replaced the fuel pump with the only symptoms being hard starting occaasionally. Well the light has come back about 3 months ago but it is spuradic at best on for 1 to 2 weeks then off, back on for a day or 2 then back off for a few days. Getting to be more of a nusance than anything else but short of spending $85 to find out it is nothing I really don't want to take it into the garage again. Last fuel pump run me $450 due to the dropping of the gas tank to replace. Anyone have any ideas?

Go to auto zone, advance, etc. They will read the codes for free. Then post the code numbers here and some one will help determine the fix...

That will work, or find some one with an Xcal that can read the code for you, ANY xcal 2 or 9100 Will work....

They also sell code readers for about $30.00 bucks...
