If anyone has any ideas I would like to hear them.

On my wife's 2000 chevy blazer(s-10) when the fuel level gets down near 1/4 tank the guage in the dash goes haywire, bouncing back and forth between half tank & empty.

thanks in advance, Ray

I think it is a sensor in the gas tank. My uncle has a 1996 Impala ss and his gas guage would do that. and he changed some kind of sensor out in the gas tank and now every thing is good. what was happining was that the sensor had a short or just went bad in it and it would catch fire in the gas tank but when the gas flowed over the sensor it would put the fire out, b/c the gas tank has a vac. seal on it. so there for it could not "blow up" i dont know for sure if this is your problem but i hope it helps

LOL....

My 88 s-10 did this for 12 years.........

IT was the sender in the tank, I never fixed it....

My GMC did that for several years. I ignored it and used the trip meter to tell me how far I was from the last fill-up. When the fuel pump finally went out I changed the complete unit, which gets the pump and the gauge sending unit. Now it works again! Only $350 for the assembly and removing the bed of the truck to get to it! On a blazer I'm sure you'll have to drop the tank.
