My 2001 Job 1 (with only 31k miles) has developed a chirping sound that occurs only when the engine is cold. After driving a few blocks it fades and then disappears. Opening the hood, it sounds like one chirp each time the belt goes around, so I'm guessing the noise source is the belt, which is the original.

Do I need to replace the belt?

Is it easy to do myself?

might be the belt. It is probably hardend from heat and age, not miles. Time for replace on the age anyway.

Simple to replace. Just folow the routing pic diagrahm under the hood. There will be a square hole in the tensior pulley for a ratchet or break over bar, for tension release.

Go with a 1/2 inch shorter belt too..... In gates it would be a K060860...

The other thing is the W/P pulley was re designed in 02 due to it causing belt noise...
