yep is an evil habit, been at it for 40 yrs, two packs a day for the last 20 yrs.

My E cig came yesterday from crown 7.com

this is an incredible device, no cigs all day, no need.

congrats on trying to quit Bill. I am on week 2 of no smoking, however, I am quitting with the help of Chantix Pills. It has all been great, although I am disappointed that I have not had wierd physicdellic dreams as everyone that has taken it has reported. oh well, at least I am not smoking.

Good Luck Bill.

I know how you feel. I was a 2 pack a day smoker for 18 years. I quit when my son was born. (there was no way I was smoking on the deck in NJ winter) When you make it past the first week you will be past the physical dependency period. Fight every urge to have even a drag for at leats 30 days. After that should you try a cigarette take 1 and only 1 long deep drag. Your lungs freak!!!. It's amazing how the human body will rejects the smoke.

You can do this. It's just a matter of refusing to lose to something!

and just think of all the extra stuff you can buy for your ST:cool:

Good deal bill. I always been a fan of cold turkey but anything that works to help the cause is ok by me.

After a visit to my Dr today for lingering chest pains ( just another angina flareup), I left with a script for Chantix. A couple of months ago, I purchased an njoy electronic cig but it just didn't cut it for me by itself. Hopefully a combination of both will do it!!!

BTW...I thought I was "bad". I've smoked more or less for 35 years (off and on quiting)although never more than (1) pack per day. Your (40) years make me feel "better"!!!:D

Best wishes for a most important endeavour...

Thx all, did the chantix, it works bigtime, for three mos, just could not tolerate all the nightswets and sleep disorders, i had major problems with it.

The ecig is amazing, is working for me today, think it may tomorrow (hope so)

Smoking is a ritual ( a bad Ritual)have smoked unfilterd luckys all my life, tap the end on your watch, pull out the zippo my dad gave me when i was 15, fire up.

At 44 bux a carton, two packs a day. am done.

Congratulations on tryin to quit Bill. I don't condone smoking cigarettes. I have before though. But 2 pcks a day for 20 yrs, and been smoking for 40. the damage is done brother. It almost seems pointless. I feel like if that were my situation I'd probably feel like oh well I made it this far might as well go out with my guns and cigs blazing. However I commend your for your effort to quit. My grandfather smoked for his whole life for the last 20yrs I never saw him with out a cigar in his mouth. When he pulled it out to drink he still had a hole where it was. Then one day he was diagnosed with lung cancer. The cigar is still there, but hasn't been lit once since that day. Cold turkey after 50 or so yrs.

Just get this in the back of your head when you want to smoke, do the math. How much do you smoke/ price of cig's/ and just think of how much you spend in a year, think about all you could do with that money. Dang made you think didn't I :D;):eek:

Been there, done that. First cigarettes than cigars. Tried everything under the sun to quit but it was finally cold turkey with a strong determination that made me quit a little over a year ago. Stay the course Bill. And don't think for a moment that quiting now won't do you any good. I could barely make it up 2 flights of stairs without huffing and puffing a year ago. Now it's a breeze. I feel better all over. But that's not the main reason I quit. I was tired of being a slave to cigarettes/cigars. Always fretting about when you would be able to have that next smoke. And if you've been a smoker you know exactly what I mean. I like being in control of my life. You are not in control with cigarette addiction.
