The last couple weeks, there has been a "clicking" noise inside my vehicle when it's running. It sounds like it's coming from the pillars between the front and back doors, approximately at ear height. (maybe behind the seat belt connection?) It clicks at irregular intervals, probably averaging 5 to 10 seconds apart. The clicks come from both sides, independently.

Any ideas as to what might be going on? The temperatures here have been holding in the 25F to 35F range for about the same period of time--might it be somehow related to a freeze/thaw cycle as the vehicle is warming up? (I've not driven any trips during that time to determine if it goes away once the whole vehicle is warmed up.)

Thanks!

Maybe something with the seat belts or if you have the side air bags.

You may want to try to push the plastic tight against the truck to see if it it something temp related..

Thanks Todd. I was thinking it could be the seat belts (and no, mine's an '02, no side air bags). But I also thought that if that was the case, one or the other may have developed the sound. But this on both sides on the same day. I''ll definitely play with the plastic in those areas, though...

Or maybe I just have a weird sort of tinitis... :D

I've had that noise for a couple of years. last week, i was poking around trying to find out WTF? and i think it is the door weatherstripping. i opened the door, and pushed on the seal, and it made the same noise. i surmise that as the car warms up, the heat from the inside melts the ice holding the weatherstrip in place... that's my theory, and i'm sticking to it.....
