clicking noise

Theres a clicking noise coming from the rear end....then sometimes i hear it coming from the driveshaft. I took it to a mechanic shop and the guy told me to replace the rear end, what a joke. Doe's anyone out there have any advice it would be great appreciated.I love my sport trac i dont have any money to buy a new truck.

Check for any bad U-Joint or play in the output/input shafts. Jack up the rear end and turn the wheels back and forth. I can tell you most places will tell you to just replace the rear end since they are to lazy to open it up and take a look.

Sounds like the needle bearings in the U-Joints are going. Thats my opinion already replaced mine.
