I have had this code pop up several times over the past month or so never at a certain time or speed. It seems to random at 65 or at 20 level or on a grade accelerating or cruising. The truck seems to pause every now and them like your food slipped off the gas but never stalls or even looses speed. Fuel pressure is 50 psi and it will stay off for weeks at a time then will come on again. Thanks in advance for any and all assistance. Fuel filter was changed within the past 6 months.

P0193 - Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit High Input (FRP) The comprehensive component monitor (CCM) monitors the FRP sensor circuit to the PCM for high voltage. If voltage were to fall below a calibrated limit and a calibrated amount of time during testing, the test will fail. FRP signal shorted to VREF or VPWR.

FRP signal open (gasoline only)

Low fuel pressure (NG only)

Damaged FRP sensor.

Damaged PCM.

High fuel pressure (caused by damaged fuel pressure regulator) NG.

A FRP PID value during KOER or KOEO less than 0.3 volts for gasoline or 0.5 volts for natural gas vehicles (NG) would indicate a hard fault.

From what I have now read on this site and from discussing with several others the pressure sensor seems to be the likely culprit. I have checked the pressure with a data logging scan tool this morning and it reads within specs and the PCM checks OK per the snap on tool that we used.

My first question is if this sensor fails completely what will happen? Looks like a simple swap and I can get one within a few minutes if needed. Should I buy and carry in the glove box like the ignition module on my Mustang distributor. Thanks again for the links and information that all have supplied.

Replaced the sensor this afternoon with a Motorcraft unit the bag said made in Germany and the unit said Bosch I paid $80.86 for it and the install took about 15 min. reset the computer and drove about 30 miles. Seems to run fine and no CEL so as of now all is well. Thanks again for all assistance and information. Anyone want to buy a slightly used pressure sensor cheap... lol

The infamous pressure sensor. It sounds like you got the issue fixed but here is some info for the future. First and foremost when you have a code for the FRP you never monitor fuel pressure with a scan tool, after all you are having an issue with the sensor that supplies the fuel pressure reading to the pcm and if we suspect a problem with it how can we believe the info that we are looking at.
