My uncle told me a story of how he put coil overs instead of shocks on his pickup and he was able to hold twice is much weight with no squat at all... it got me thinking... would it be possible to add coil overs instead of shocks on the gen 1 sport trac to add more load capacity and suspension stiffness?

Yup, and you'll lose the torsion bars also. If I was going Superlift, I'd also do coilovers. (Read: if I was rich...)

Chad did that initially on his Trac. Not sure how much info he had on here about it, though.

I'm not exactly sure how that would work out but I would imagine you would just have very expensive shocks then. Maybe even a very stiff ride; I don't know.

Why wouldn't you want to remove the torsion bars?

It was just a thought on load capacity and maybe it would help to eliminate the front end sag on the tracs due to the uneven weight distribution cuz of the plastic bed. Not exactly sure what it would accomplish but it may be worth testing

Chad did this, Many others have too..... Its a LOT of fabrication and work....
