Hello all,

Here is a staement I find in the Project for replaing this item:

FIRST:

Locate the red switch on your master cylinder: IF it is BLACK you DO NOT NEED

THIS !!!!!!

If mine is black, does this mean I cannot follow this project guide? I am having problems where the cruise control will not engage when trying to set (indicator light comes on but will not stay on).

thanks

Benny

you can still use the project guide.. there was a recall on the red/orange collered ones.. they leaked and caused engine fires...

If you do a search you will find a lot of info on this. It seems that although our sporttracs have the same setup, they were never part of the recall. I remember reading on here that someone went to the dealer and asked for the parts that were being replaced in the recall and the dealer said " but your truck isn't part of it".

No. It was only recalled for F-150s, I think. I went there to buy the part because I wanted to replace mine myself. Took 10min of trying to explain to the guy it was the same part and I wanted to buy it. He just kept telling me it was not recalled and they wouldn't cover it...Only cost about $20.

yeah, I had an '00F150, and I got a recall notice on it for the cruise control issue, but never did see a "formal" recall/notice on the ST, know I need to do, just haven't done it. Plan on bleeding the brakes anyway, so will do it all at the same time.

Hello again,

Went to pick up the switch and now I have a bit of confusion.

The Ford parts guy shows two switches. One under the hood and connected to the master cylinder - the other attached near the brake pedal!

oh boy....

any ideas about which could be the culprit to my problem?

thanks
