cruise control

50% of the time when i try to use my crise control i turn it on and hit "accel set" and the light in the dash flashes on and then off and the cruise contol doesnt come on what could be causing this?

If it is not the switch locking in. It could be the cutout switch, on the front of master cylinder. If yours is the red one. It is the one on recall, cause of the ford fires.
