Hello :)

Should be receiving my Pioneer NAV unit on Tuesday. In addition to the unit, I'm going to have to fit several secondary harness and interface modules 'somewhere' in the dash of my Gen 2 ST.

Question? Are there any tricks to removing the 'coin tray' that sits on the middle-top of the dash? I am clear on removing the center stack, just have never removed the panel on the dash's top. Is it just clips and/or bolts? Any certain way to pull or tug? I apologize if this is obvious, just don't want to damage anything.

Cheers, B3

You don't need to remove the top tray. There is VERY LITTLE room for all the extra wiring harnesses. I soldered all connections and left the harnesses a little long so they could be tucked down the sides of the stack and it was still a tight fit.

Hi StadEMS3:

Thanks for the message. Yes, there is some room next to the center stack, particularly to the passenger side. I was just thinking that maybe removal of the top tray would give better access?

Who wants to bet I'll be back here later today with install questions? :bwahaha:

The top tray is only held by a couple of clips, easy to release. I placed the GPS and Bluetooth receiver for my Pioneer AVIC-Z3 under the top dash tray, but that's it. Like StadEMS3 mentioned, I left the extra wires on the harness so they could hang down the back of the unit. There's not much room at all behind the head unit.
