hey guys- I left the lights on on our 07 Dodge mini-van. I jumped it and it started fine, it is a brand new vehicle so brand new battery. Question is- will the battery be alright after this? Is it weaker now, possibly leaving my wife stranded somewhere because it won't start? Or should it be ok if I leave it run for awhile? thanks for the replies.

You shuld be fine... If any thing you simply shortened the full life of the battery..

Agreed. If the battery was like, four years old, I'd get a new one but on a new '07 I wouldn't worry about it.

You should put a charger on it overnight. An alternator was never desgned to charge a battery, but to simply float the battery.

What Tom says! I was taught the same thing in my Automotive Technology program: An alternator may not be able to fully charge a dead battery. Put it on a trickle charger overnight. Check and fill the water if you have removable caps first. Use only distilled water. Make sure the terminals are clean and tight-- no corrosion.
