Hi everyone,

I'm takin my trac in for an oil change tomorrow morning. Our dealer, west herr, has a "quicklane" where they do small things like oil changes...I know they do that checklist thing for thetruck when they take it in, but what im wondering is if i mention to them to look at the u joints and the throttle cable and differential and transfer case fluid levels specifically, will they charge me extra? im not sure if thats included in the paper checklist they have...

thanks

When I go in for oil changes and they do the checks on the list, they usually find things that aren't wrong with the ST. They said I needed to rotate my tires once. I bought new tires only a week before. So I called their bluff. But they shouldn't charge you any extra to look. Hopefully, they will look and be honest about any issues. It's when they get down and dirty they'll charge ya.

My Ford dealer also has the quicklane, but they don't check anything-- they just fill out the paper. When I took it there last time for the state inspection, the paper said that the tires all had 30 psi front and rear. The next morning I checked them and the tires were actually at 30 front and 35 rear, just like I left them. The paper also said that the dealer lubricated all the door hinges, locks, hood hinges, gas cap, and tailgate. I checked all of these things and the dust wasn't even disturbed or wet on any of them. This is a Ford Blue Oval certified dealer with all the awards on the wall.

QuickLane really means QuackLane.

That's why it's called Quicklane, all they do is change oil. I wouldn't expect them to check anything else, OTOH they shouldn't lie about it either.
