difference in rims 2wd or 4wd?

I'm about to buy a new set of rims for my 2001 Sport Trac and I wonder if there's a difference in rims you can put on either a 2wd or 4wd. Or does anything that goes on a 2wd also fit a 4wd (without modifications) and the other way around?

No differences in OEM wheels. All Gen 1 (01-05) fit 4x2 or 4x4 the same. Gen 2 (07-up) will fit but look quite odd without spacers (not worth it IMO). A lot of different Ford model wheels will fit the Gen 1, 5-4.5" or 5-114.3mm patters and found on rear wheel drive models.
