Different tire size

Has anyone gone from a P265/70rx16 tire which was the size from the factory to a P285/60rx16. The reason I'm asking is I don't want to changeover from the factory wheels and I need to know if it would cause any problems. Thanks

Unless they change the OEM size, I believe that the tire size is 255/70/16's, not 65's.

No, they came with P265's

You note that you have P265/70rx16 which is about 10.43x30.61". A P285/60rx16 is about 11.22x29.46". The new tire section width is about 0.79" wider than what you note having now.



Typically, for street performance, the rim width should be (about) 80% of the tire section width. 80% of 10.43" is 8.34", 80% of 11.22" is 8.97". The difference in rim width is .63" (8.97-8.34=0.63").



You don't note the rim width and I don't know, so can't calculate, but ...

7" rim -> 8.75" tire section

8" rim -> 10" tire section

9" rim -> 11.25" tire section
