I am going to replace my seals, bearings, rotors, brake pads tomorrow... I have done brake jobs before, but never replaced the rotors...

I have 2 larger bearings, 2 smaller bearings, 2 seals. My question is which way does the seal go onto the rotor?? There seems to be a hard plastic ring around one side, and the other side is just basically flat rubber... When I put this on, does the hard plastic thing go against the dust shield side?

Also, I bought some Mobil 1 Synthetic Grease... is there anything good or bad to say about using this?

Thanks!

I can not think of it offhand. I guess when you put the seal in, if it doesn't fit, it is wrong. If it fits, you have it in the right way.

Here are some pictures.

Looked at on edge, the seal should have a flange on one side. That flange will not fit in the hole next to the bearing. Instead, that flange should be facing away from the bearing. This flange will be flat against the face of the rotor when it is installed correctly, and the rest of the seal will extend into the rotor towards the bearing.
