Hello all. This is my first post since becoming a member.. I looked around and did not find anything to help me.. soooo. Here it is:

I have an '02 ST with 62k miles on it. For about the past 6 months, my pass. frt door has not locked or unlocked with the PL feature. (which to date did not bother me b/c I don't use that door anyways).

Well recently, my driver side door is now doing this...

Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, how hard is it to change out the electronics.. which of course are not covered under my ESP war.??

Thank you for your help in advance.

There are some rivets that hold the lock actuators in place that break off. Some folks have replaced the rivets with small bolts/nuts.

And WELCOME to MYST.com! :D

More than likely the rivot that holds the power motor has failed. So basically the lock goes up and down leaving the linkage right where it is.

Remove the door panel and take a look at the power lock cylinder. It is probably just hanging there...

Well.. you are all correct. After taking apart the door tonight.. the rivot has broke..

What is the easiest way to fix it? I went to Autozone and they told me that the actuator is a dealer only part.. find that hard to believe.

how hard is it to pull that out of the door to replace the stud that is in the motor to use a nut/bolt combo?

Thank you again.

Thank you.. I checked out that link.. seems to have some more info.. still confused as to how to drill out the old rivot though.. will it damage the plastic that it is in?

Thanks,

Jimmy
