DPFE sensor failure symptoms

Hi there,



I need to replace my DPFE sensor as indicated by my check engine light.. I'm just curious to know what symptoms are noticed when this sensor fails? I would like to know what to look for once I have replaced it besides the Check Engine light going off.



Can anyone help?



I also get a weird stuttering when I put my truck in park after driving... almost feels like it wants to stall.. any idea what this could be?

when my DPFE sensor failed there were no symptoms, however the CEL had come on a few other times prior to this when the sensor was beginning to fail and I had the same stuttering problem as you. From what I understand the sensor controls the EGR valve which redirects your exhaust back into the engine to be reburned in an attempt to lower emissions, but it only does this at highway speeds. I assume if the sensor fails and the valve is left open then too much exhuast could be reentering the system and causing the stuttering. I'm sure others will be able to say whether my assumptions are correct or not

Mine kept stalling in park and neutral, and I had the CEL.

I had no symptoms whatsoever, but I actually acted fast when the CEL came up, thus not giving it time to get worse...
