I would like to share an experience with you, about drinking and driving. A couple of nights ago, I was out for a few drinks and eats with some hunting and fishing friends at the steakhouse and I had a couple of cocktails and some rather nice red wine.

Knowing full well I may have been slightly over the limit, I did something I've never done before: I took a bus home. Sure enough, on the way home, I passed a police road block, but as it was a bus, they waved it past. I arrived home safely without incident, which was a real surprise, as I have never driven a bus before and am not sure where I got it.

Good on ya Gary D!

If there is one thing I have learned in my life so far, it's that if I take the opportunity to do the WRONG thing I'll certainly be called on it. :driving: When I was newly married, my wife made some bad judgement calls while I was away. She didn't get caught or hurt but I had to elaborate to her that while she wears my last name "we don't do it that way".

When I drink, my wife drives and vice versa. No drink is worth a permanent record or an expenses paid trip to the afterlife - JMO.

I catch myself smiling on those days where I observe a speeding motorist zooming past just to roll by them later as a peace officer is issuing them a ticket hehe. I always get the feeling that it would've been me, in another life...

Gary D,

:bwahaha:

I have always heard Public service announcements say that if you were drinking, to "TAKE" a bus or cab home....I guess you took that literally...:bwahaha:

I applaud you for keeping good judgement. The weekend after I graduated from high school back in 1989, I had an uncle killed by a drunk driver. My uncle was driving a Renault Alliance, the other guy was driving a jacked up and lifted 4X4 Blazer, and crossed the median in Livingston, TX. He got 20 years, but my cousins had to grow up without their father.

Gary, I am damn proud of you man. At least you had some wits about you to make that decision. Believe me, there is no shame, but hopefully a lesson learned. Its no longer like when we were younger and the policeman would warn us and follow us home to make sure we were safe! Hey, not for nothing, but I've been clean and sober for almost 7 years. And with my sick sense of humor, occasionally weave down the road to see if they'll pull me over. Not yet. God bless you for making the right call. Bob

Am I reading this wrong? Believe this was intended to be a joke. :smack:
