Left the Trac at the collision repair shop. I feel pretty good about it. They came up with a higher estimate than the other three places, and this one has all the certifications (ASE, I-CAR, insurance company preferred shop, etc.) Also a couple of the techs were state winners in SkillsUSA when they attended Vocational School.
The shop gave me a Geo Tracker to drive as a loner. This is a very interesting vehicle. Although it is tiny on the outside, I have plenty of room on the inside to fit my 6'-3", 300 lb. self. This Tracker has the part-time 4x4 system with manual hubs. There is a "normal/power" selector switch for the transmission shift policy. Powering the thing is a very agricultural-sounding little 4-cylinder engine that could have easily come out of a 40-year old little Massey-Ferguson tractor.
So far the Geo is a fun little riot to drive! I may have to get one some day! It fits anywhere in our goofy parking lot at work, and though it won't hardly go faster than 70 MPH, it feels quick because of the very firm shifts of the 5-speed auto as it goes through the gears. I think it must have a 20 ft turning circle too.
