I am looking to get a new set of lamps for my brush guard, in addition to my stock fogs. I like the PIAA 520s or 580s. My question is if I should go with the driving lights, the pencil beams, or the fogs. I was just going to go with the driving lights, so I can keep them on with my lows and fogs, but maybe the fogs would be better so I can keep them on with my highs. I do a lot of driving on back roads and tend to just leave me lows and fogs on all the time, because they are much brighter than my highs.

there's a project on making your fogs stay on with your brights. maybe this will help your decision...

I am pretty sure it is illegal to have all three sets of lights on at the same time. Additionally, all three sets would provide too much illumination during foggy conditions.

Also, I believe the location you are suggesting is better for fog lamps. The stock lamps, which you refer to as fog lamps, are actually driving lamps.

I have the PIAA 520 driving lights on mine. I live in TN and drive with all three on at dusk and dawn. I've passed many officers and not one of them flashed or pulled me over, knock, knock.

Nelson, a little bit of illegality never hurt anyone;). Also, Im talking about the stock fog lamps, not the driving lamps. They have a much wider beam than driving lamps.

Does anyone have any input on the 580s or 540s? They seem similar, although the 580s have 135 watts. Whats the brightness like on the 520s?
